Starting over from scratch.

We are close to finishing up 2024. To say the last couple of years has been a struggle would be an understatement. The retail real estate industry has seen a lot of changes and with that change has come undoubtable challenges.

My wife Shelly and I have been discussing the “what’s next” part of our life. I have explained to her that in my eyes we are at a point of necessity where we have to create our own opportunities. In my eyes, that opportunity begins with starting our own real estate investing business.

I’m writing this more as a declaration of movement. Something to get me going and to look back on when we are successful in the upcoming endeavor.

See, I jumped into residential lending a few years ago to really get a handle on the real estate market and how it worked. Shelly became a Realtor shortly after. We’ve learned so much and within that learning we have found the issue with the retail market.

That issue is that to the normal eye, real estate is in a simple box. Buying of a residential home to call your own, living in it for a period of time, capitalizing on the growth of your investment, and then doing it all over again. In this time, I have worked through the lesser known version of the investing.

This process involves buying low, adding value back into the property, converting to a portfolio or selling at a profit, and doing it over and over again. This is the premise of our new business. We aren’t reinventing the wheel here…just doing what most would consider “risky”.

Life comes with risk. Nothing is guaranteed. We live, we survive, and then we die. What I have found in life is the things that really matter are what we work to do to make ourselves happy. Let me tell you, I’m not happy right now. We’ve checked all the boxes that we are supposed to check and now we are well into the “what’s next” phase.

So as someone on the outside looking in, I hope you’ll join us in this journey. We are going to be real estate investors. I’m an entrepreneur at heart. I love risk and I thrive in the future of the unknown. That’s not to say we don’t have a plan, but more as “here is what we are doing, here’s how, and here’s where we will end up” type proclamation. The unknown is how far we will actually reach.
